Sometimes I'm in the mood to wade through the trash at the giant Salvation Army branch near our house. Because sometimes, just sometimes, I find a treasure. Yesterday, I dug through the hundreds of LPs on the bottom of a forgotten shelf and found 16 records (that I consider treasures) for only 25 cents a piece. 25 cents! Most of them are from the 50s and 60s.

The only problem is that I don't have a record player, and they're almost impossible to find second hand. Crosley makes new ones - which is probably what I'll end up getting once I go back to work and the paychecks start again. But I'd really love to have an old player to go with the records themselves. Anyone have an old hi-fi they aren't using and are willing to donate to the cause? I have to hear that Polka Party record...
I'm also dying to listen to the Winnie the Pooh record. I had it when I was little and I can remember sitting with my back against the speaker of the big radio/record player/8-track player console in our dining room and reading along as the narrator told the story. I want to hear the "ding" that signaled it was time to turn the page! Ah, memories... I miss records.

we used to have an old Big Bird Sesame Street record player, I don't think we have it any more. It worked though and played regular records.
They also had those "dings" on the cassette tapes that came with the books when I was a kid too. It is indeed a great sound.
